From the title one can tell that this book is for beginners. It's for people who are new to Web design. However, in order to get the most out of this book the reader should have a strong background in computers.

You will not be able to read this book and set up your Web site in 24 hours. The book is too detailed for that. Web Design In A Nutshell gives in-depth treatment of each fundamental of Web design. The reading is intense at times, but well worth it.
The information in this book is divided into five main parts in addition to an excellent appendix.
Part one is about the Web environment in general. There is a complete discussion of the different browsers available.
Part two is a tutorial on HTML.
Part three contains discussions of the various available graphics formats like GIF, JPEG, and PNG.
Part four focuses on multimedia and interactive Web design. This part also includes a good discussion of Javascript.
Part five is about newly emerging technologies for use on the Web. This section includes discussions of cascading style sheets, dymanic HTML, and XML.
Throughout the book, the author provides plenty of sample code listings to demonstrate salient points. There are also plenty of references to software editors and other tools, including shareware, that are useful in making the design of Web sites easier.
Overall the book is a good choice for an introduction to Web design. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, I give it a 4.
